The library will sponsor a Scholastic book fair from Monday, May 1st, to Friday, May 5th. The purpose of this book fair is to encourage reading over the summer so all items will be Buy One, Get One Free (of equal or lesser value). The library has chosen to make no money on this book fair so that students may double their buying power with the BOGO offer. The Second Quarter Honor Roll celebration will be held during all lunches on Friday, 28 April. PTA awarded a grant to the Glasgow Counseling Team to provide gift cards for Honor Roll students. Now, they would love your help to ensure all Honor Roll students have a chance to participate in this gift card giveaway. After School STEM Club Partners with George Mason STEM Camp Students in Glasgow’s STEM Impressionists after school club are partnering with George Mason University STEM Accelerator Program and Girls Inspired and Ready to Lead, Inc. to deliver a student-created summer school seminar for the participants of the Females of Color and those Underrepresented in STEM (F.O.C.U.S.) summer STEM camp for girls. The 2016 Glasgow Middle School team won the Gold Award at the Family Career and Community Leaders of America competitions at BOTH the state and national levels. The School Board extends our hearty congratulations to team members Lacy Callahan, Susan Connell and Zara Green, as well as to their Lead Advisor, Angela DeHart, who teaches Family and Consumer Science at Glasgow. We’re pleased to announce that GMS OM Team won Second Place at the NoVA North Tournament on March 4, 2017. The team-written and designed performance was a satire on the body’s battle against the vengeful effects of Ebola, with the body’s defenses led by the shape-shifting superhero “Brainstorm” and its spastic side kick “Sugar.” Special guest appearances during the simulated video-blog included the Queen of Hip-Hop Pelvis Presley, Bluetooth the famous blogger, and life-sized butterflies.
