Kindness. Commitment. Safety. Our Panthers are busy using those guiding principles each school day. When they get “caught” in the act, a teacher or staff member can reward them with a Panther card. At least once a month, students with Panther cards visit the PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports) Panther Store during lunch, and redeem cards for small treats such as candy, toys, books, gift cards and other items. In the Nov. 8 General Election, Fairfax County voters will be asked to vote YES or NO on a meals tax question. The Board of Supervisors does not have the authority to implement a meals tax unless approved by voters. 70 percent of the net revenues of the tax collected would be dedicated to Fairfax County Public Schools. The GMS CyberSecurity Club Glasgow is one of just 10 middle schools selected by FCPS to form an Air Force Association “CyberPatriot Middle School” team and to prepare students to participate in state/national competition. Until recently only four high schools (Marshall, Chantilly, Edison, Mt. Vernon) fielded such teams. Beyond preparing for the competition, students will also learn about a variety of information technology related careers. Already made famous by their summer hit, “Books by the Ocean”, our fabulous librarians (Amber Couch and Sarah Allen) are back at Glasgow and rockin’ the library once again! PACKET STUFFING DAY – 26 Aug: It takes a village! Every student gets a packet loaded with information, forms, and news – all the information our community needs to start school well. That’s over 1700 envelopes! Join us in the Glasgow Café to stuff the envelopes. We’ll start at 9a and continue until we’re done. Sign up here to let us know you’re coming: many hands make light work! Middle and High School students earn service hours for helping. Give an hour or more; every bit helps.
