Glasgow PTA has sponsored a team of 6th and 7th graders to compete in this year’s Odyssey of the Mind regional tournament. A requirement of their registration is to provide a judge for the tournament. A judge can be any community member and requires a day’s commitment for training and a day’s commitment for the tournament. There are small perks like a provided lunch and a t-shirt on tournament day, but the real benefit is seeing elementary through high schoolers share their creative problem-solving approaches! Commitment Details: Training is February 11 from about 8:30 to about 3:00 at Thoreau Middle School in Vienna The tournament is March 4 from […]

Last fall with the approval of Principal DeRose and the donation of two nest boxes from the Virginia Bluebird Society, we established the Glasgow Middle School Bluebird Trail. Our trail is part of a state-wide program that collects data on native cavity nesters. Three Glasgow families -the Lambs, the Beemans and the Berthas- took responsibility for checking the nest boxes once a week April – August and recording any activity. Being our first year we weren’t sure if any feathered friends would find our nest boxes. It took them awhile but by mid June a pair of tree swallows moved […]
Science Olympiad is in need of additional coaches as we have enough students for two teams this year – that means over 30 students! This is an awesome opportunity to keep kids excited about science. All that is required is to have an interest in helping our students discover their hidden skills and talents. Science Olympiad is a practical, fun, hands-on team competition for all grades (6-8) […]
