Last fall with the approval of Principal DeRose and the donation of two nest boxes from the Virginia Bluebird Society, we established the Glasgow Middle School Bluebird Trail. Our trail is part of a state-wide program that collects data on native cavity nesters. Three Glasgow families -the Lambs, the Beemans and the Berthas- took responsibility for checking the nest boxes once a week April – August and recording any activity. Science Olympiad is in need of additional coaches as we have enough students for two teams this year – that means over 30 students! This is an awesome opportunity to keep kids excited about science. If you are interested in learning more about what is involved contact Ed or Kimberly Bellem at firstname.lastname@example.org. Keep in mind… you do not need to be a science expert to do this. Special Guests: Chris Powell (Advanced Academics), Cara Kirby, and Michelle Flynn (Career & Technical Education) – FCPS Instructional Services Learn about AP, IB, and Academy Programs offered throughout FCPS. Take 1 course, many, or the entire program. Get the facts to choose which program (or course) is right for your student. Families from our feeder schools and Stuart are welcome and encouraged to attend.
The first Open Campus of the year will be held this month (November). This is a quarterly event that fosters a caring community and inclusively celebrates successful behavior. It works in conjunction with our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention & Support) program and provides students with the opportunity to attend an activity of their choice for an afternoon, hosted by a teacher or community member.
